BUIP209: B.U. Long-term Mission Focus on NEXA

BUIP209 formalizes Bitcoin Unlimited’s long-term focus on NEXA, the cryptocurrency that the organization has been developing since 2022. This proposal sets B.U.'s development and marketing priorities on NEXA for the next decade (2024–2033). While B.U. has played a pivotal role in supporting Bitcoin Cash (BCH), the proposal acknowledges that BCH has become a mature network with extensive ecosystem support. Therefore, B.U.'s resources will now be directed exclusively toward NEXA, while allowing for potential volunteer-driven support for BCH, particularly in maintaining compatibility with future hard forks.

This shift represents a strategic realignment, reinforcing NEXA as the core mission of Bitcoin Unlimited.

Peter R has been re-elected as Secretary of Bitcoin Unlimited for another two-year term, continuing his long-standing commitment to the organization’s leadership. BUIP211: Continuing the Publication Grant to Ledger Journal

BUIP211 extends Bitcoin Unlimited’s support for the Ledger Journal, an academic journal dedicated to blockchain and cryptocurrency research. Previously supported through BUIP163, this proposal seeks to continue funding the journal’s Managing Editor position for three more years. The grant has enabled Ledger to weather recent challenges, including the pandemic and the “crypto winter,” allowing it to maintain high-quality academic publications.

The journal has grown under the leadership of Professor Claudio J. Tessone and is increasingly recognized as a key platform for blockchain research. BU’s continued support aligns with its commitment to fostering knowledge and innovation within the cryptocurrency space. Additionally, Ledger is working towards financial independence by developing partnerships and introducing author-fee models to support its operations.
