Build On Nexa (BON) is your onboarding gateway to building powerful applications and services on Nexa. The site is a repository of guides, documentation, and resources for developers seeking support getting started and building, supporting TypeScript/JavaScript, Kotlin, and soon, Python.
This week we updated the developer documentation structure, refined the SDK organization, and revised the theming of the site. The home page now starts you with four cards: Libraries and SDKs, Smart Contracts, Protocol and Node, Chain Tools, and one above them: begin with an AI-assisted starter app now.
Development on Nexa is getting easier with all the provided libraries and tools, and now with newly introduced AI skills, anyone can build their first decentralized application. Load the Nexa AI Skills into your coding agent and build your first Nexa dApp today.

Nexa AI-Assisted Development
You don’t need to be a seasoned developer to start building on Nexa. The team has your back and provides expert-level Nexa knowledge for AI coding agents. Drop the skills into your Kotlin project, and your agent writes correct wallet, transaction, token, and smart-contract code from day one.
Nexa AI Assist is a curated set of documents that your coding agent consults. Each one is packed with mental models, working code patterns, common mistakes, and security pitfalls for each area of Nexa development. With these skills in place, your agent writes Nexa-specific code based on vetted documentation for all major Nexa Kotlin libraries instead of guessing, and avoids carrying over habits from other blockchains that don’t apply to Nexa.
It meets you wherever you are on the learning curve:
-
Idea-first builders: you know what you want to create but not (yet) how to code it; your agent carries the Nexa expertise, so describing the application is enough to get it working.
-
Developers new to Nexa: the skills give your agent the libraries, patterns, and pitfalls up front, so you skip the weeks of trial and error.
-
Experienced Nexa developers: use your agent to generate boilerplate, answer deep questions instantly, and review your code for correctness and security as a Nexa expert would.
Seventeen skills cover the full development stack, from project setup, wallets and transactions to tokens and NFTs, Wally wallet connection, Electrum monitoring, CAPD messaging, and NPL smart contracts. Add the skills to your project or build on the Nexa Starter App, prime your agent with one line, then describe what you want to build.
Libraries, Contracts and Chain Tools
The developer community needs reliable, open-source tools to implement Nexa apps and services. Libnexa-kotlin is a multiplatform library to build wallets, websites, and apps in Kotlin that need strong connections to the Nexa blockchain. It runs on Android, iOS, JVM, and many desktop native targets, handling keys, addresses, transaction construction, and network access so you can focus on your app. Libnexa-ts provides a reliable SDK for TypeScript/JavaScript apps that need to interface with the Nexa network, and the TypeScript Wallet SDK built on top of it adds wallet functionality, transaction building, token operations, and more. Libnexa-python is coming soon, with the same building blocks as libnexa-ts (wallets, addresses, keys, scripts, and transactions) for Python applications.
Nexa smart contracts let you set the rules that release coins, so funds move only when the conditions you define are met: a signature, a block height, a token authority. Contracts run natively on Nexa’s UTXO chain, with no gas fees and no separate virtual machine to learn. You can write them in Nexa Programming Language (NPL), a Kotlin domain-specific language with an internal compiler and internal support for testing on Nexa’s virtual machine, or in NexScript, a high-level language with a strong abstraction layer over Nexa’s native virtual machine.
Protocol and Node is how the chain is specified and how you run it: the Nexa specification, the full node software that is the backbone of the Nexa network, and Libnexa, a C/C++ shared library built from the full node.
Chain Tools is where you inspect, query, and debug a live or test chain: the mainnet and testnet explorers, the web application to test and debug smart contracts, Rostrum, an efficient implementation of Electrum Server, and the testnet faucet.
Build On Nexa
You can already start building on Nexa today with all the provided developer tools, libraries, and just-released Nexa AI assistance and skills. It’s already possible to build your next decentralized application and bring your ideas to life more smoothly and easily than ever before.
Developments on developer resources and tools are not stopping here. With the Build On Nexa (BON) program, we look forward to creating even more guides and tutorials to narrow the gap for new developers who want to get started.
The roadmap’s upgrades to the NexScript Playground, an enhanced browser-based IDE for writing, testing, and deploying NexScript smart contracts without local toolchain setup, are landing piece by piece until the final release.
No less important is the upcoming Python library: an official Python SDK for interacting with Nexa nodes, signing transactions, and building automation scripts and data pipelines on top of the blockchain, with the same building blocks as libnexa-ts.
In Conclusion
As mentioned above, more exciting developments and upcoming releases are on the way. The team will continue to build a strong foundation that will provide developers and the community with infrastructure designed around usefulness, usability, utility, and real-world adoption.
