How Emissions Work
Nexa launched on 21 June 2022, with a 10,000,000 NEX (Nexa units)-per-block reward. Blocks are produced at a two-minute interval, so the network produces about 720 blocks per day and 1,050,000 blocks every four years.
The reward halves every 1,050,000 blocks. Era 0 emitted 10.5T NEX, which is half the total supply. Era 1 emits half of that, era 2 half of that, and so on. Total supply approaches 21,000,000,000,000 NEX in 2134. The per-block subsidy hits 0.01 NEX. From then, miner revenue is only from transaction fees, and new issuance drops to zero.
Blocks target 120 seconds via difficulty adjustment for each block. The emission schedule, halving boundaries, and total cap of 21 trillion NEX are deterministic and verifiable on-chain.
Interesting Features
The website is designed to stay interactive and fun for newcomers and old community members. It offers a variety of features for you to play and interact with, such as “racing the chains” to visualize the speed of actual transactions across different public blockchains.
Another fun feature is block hashes drawn within sacred-geometry mandalas. Each block consists of a unique set of 32 bytes, which can be represented as an image. Anyone can save them, share on X, and interact with the actual blocks on Nexa.
A couple more useful features to play with are global transaction propagation and era summaries, which can look at data before or after a given time. Selecting an era provides a detailed breakdown of network statistics, block rewards, and other insights.
