Nexa Explorer: HODL Vaults

It’s exciting to introduce the upgraded Nexa Block Explorer with long-anticipated HODL Vaults integration. Since the introduction of HODL Vaults in the Otoplo wallet, there has been significant interest and many questions about their availability and statistics. Vaults are now available on the Nexa explorer and integrated into the tools.

What’s New

You can now find a dedicated HODL Vaults page in the tools section. The page shows the total number of vaults, total value locked (TVL), amount redeemable, and last block height.

The page is interactive, indexes new vaults and the status of existing ones, and updates frequently as the network advances. It includes a Vault Status Distribution chart and a Value Distribution chart to visualize the data.

All vault contracts are tracked and shown in the list, including upcoming unlocks, amounts, and the estimated number of blocks remaining until each unlock. Because vaults are also addresses holding NEXA coins, these figures add to the picture of basic network activity.

What’s a HODL Vault

A HODL Vault is a smart-contract that locks NEXA coins on-chain. Users can create vaults in the Otoplo wallet to lock their NEXA for a period of time. Coins can be locked until a selected block height or a future date, and are unlocked only when that condition is met. Coins cannot be unlocked early by any means; the only path is to wait for the target block height or date to arrive. Some users find it a practical way to secure long-term holdings, and it has become a popular feature in the community.

To Wrap Up

HODL Vaults are one of the on-chain signals of long-term conviction. Coins are locked away until a specific date or block height, and this reflects genuine long-term conviction from holders. Turning this quiet on-chain primitive into something everyone can browse and explore is also a win for transparency.

Many thanks and appreciation go to Andrea Suisani and Dolaned for the work and efforts in bringing this feature to life.
