August was another month of progress, awareness-building, and innovation for Nexa. Highlights included the much-anticipated Tailstorm update, new releases of native Nexa wallets, and news of our sponsorship of Korean Blockchain Week. As we enter September, let’s take a moment to reflect on August’s milestones.
The tenth anniversary of the paper “A Transaction Fee Market Exists Without a Block Size Limit” by Dr. Peter Rizun
This August marked the 10th anniversary of Dr. Peter Rizun’s seminal paper, A Transaction Fee Market Exists Without a Block Size Limit (4 Aug, 2015). Hailed by Mike Komaransky as “the second-most important paper in Bitcoin history”, Peter’s research challenged the widely held assumption that block size limits are necessary for creating fee markets. Through rigorous economic modeling, he demonstrated that a healthy fee market can emerge naturally without such limits, a contribution that remains foundational to Bitcoin’s economic theory and reflects Nexa’s spirit of scientific leadership.

Tailstorm: Blending into the Traditional Blockchain Model
Tailstorm introduces a breakthrough in blockchain design by blending Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) technology with the security and simplicity of a traditional chain. This hybrid model achieves lower variance and more granular transaction signaling, while maintaining the determinism of a single chain. Subblocks operate in memory for faster mining and propagation, while summary blocks preserve the familiar blockchain structure.
