Nexa Monthly Newsletter - January 2025

It’s All About the Long Term

The first month of the year has been full of activity with important discussions, insights into the future and new developments taking shape. Moving forward our focus remains the same on long-term growth, innovation and building the foundation for the ecosystem.

Scaling with Hardware

We had an exciting discussion featuring Peter Rizun, who shared innovations and insights into crypto scaling. Hosted by Joel Valenzuela, this conversation explored how millions of transactions per second could be processed on affordable consumer-grade hardware. It’s a game-changer for blockchain technology and a major step forward in overcoming the long-debated block size war - proving that mass scaling is possible while still allowing users to run their own nodes.

The conversation covered key topics, including the UTXO vs. account model, how customized hardware can significantly scale UTXO chains and the potential for mass privacy solutions in UTXO-based cryptocurrencies. Nexa was also part of the discussion, highlighting how our technology aligns with these innovations.

Conversations and Spaces

January started with two more important Spaces sessions with Bitcoin Unlimited President Andrew Clifford and Bitcoin Unlimited Founder and Nexa Lead Developer, Andrew Stone. On January 2nd, Andrew Stone joined Nexa spaces covering fundamentals, answering community questions also with exciting developments around Atomic Secret Exchange (ASE) and Private NFTs.

A week later, on January 9th, we had another great session on X, this time with BU President Andrew Clifford. He shared insights from 2024 and gave a glimpse into what’s coming in 2025. Conversation covered some major upcoming milestones, including the launch of the first on-chain decentralized exchange (DEX), expected by the end of Q1. We also discussed plans for more conferences and events throughout the year, the mid-year release of Blitz and other long-term developments.

Community Letter

To have a deeper insight into a year we introduced our Community Yearly Letter, looking back at Nexa progress in 2024 and outlining our goals for 2025. Last year was significant in terms of adoption and growth. We strengthened our team, improved our technology and started to expand awareness through crypto conferences.

Nexa remains a fairly launched blockchain, meaning there was no premine or special allocation of coins for developers or organizations. Bitcoin Unlimited team, which has been in the industry since 2015, remains committed to Nexa mission of building a global peer-to-peer electronic cash system.

On the technical side, Nexa successfully tested 50,000 transactions per second, proving its ability to scale. We also made major improvements to smart contracts and the native token system, making Nexa one of the most advanced UTXO-based blockchains.

Looking ahead, 2025 will be another important year. A hard fork in Q1 will introduce new scripting capabilities that will enable Atomic Secret Exchange or Open Outcry Network. Later in the year, Peter Rizun will take another leap forward with the release of the first hardware node, along with more scalability upgrades. We also plan to participate in at least five major conferences, expanding our reach and strengthening our community.
