Otoplo 5.0.0 Update: Major Release

The 5.0.0 release introduces one of the largest architectural upgrades to the wallet so far, bringing major improvements to performance, network behavior, and overall reliability. Much of the internal communication layer has been rebuilt to support real-time updates and smoother interaction with the blockchain, resulting in a noticeably more responsive experience across both mobile and desktop applications.

:warning: IMPORTANT: After updating, the wallet will rediscover all transactions and balances, which may take some time depending on the wallet history. Please allow the scan to complete. If you were using biometrics, you will need to re-enable it in Settings after the update.

What’s New?

A significant portion of this release focuses on how the wallet communicates with the network. The new event-driven architecture enables real-time updates, allowing balances and transactions to appear instantly the moment they are confirmed on-chain. Network stability has also been improved with better reconnection logic, clearer handling of connectivity loss, and more predictable behavior when switching between foreground and background modes.

This update also expands how users interact with infrastructure. A curated list of reliable Rostrum nodes is now included by default, and those who operate their own infrastructure can add custom nodes directly from the settings. Security options have been enhanced with a configurable auto-lock feature, giving users more control over idle timeout behavior. Additional performance refinements across the codebase reduce resource usage and improve responsiveness during normal operation.

List of Updates

  • Real-time Transaction Updates: A completely redesigned communication layer now uses event-driven subscriptions, allowing balances and transactions to update instantly without waiting.

  • Intelligent Network Management: Improved handling of reconnections, connectivity loss, and app state transitions for a more stable and predictable experience.

  • Flexible Node Configuration: A curated list of reliable Rostrum nodes is included, with support for custom node entries under Settings → General → Rostrum Node.

  • Configurable Auto-Lock: Users can now define their own idle timeout under Settings → Security → Auto Lock.

  • Performance Improvements: General optimizations across the application for better responsiveness and lower resource usage.

  • Mobile: Fixed intermittent biometric authentication issues that could, in some cases, lead to failed transactions or prevent balances from displaying correctly.

  • Desktop: Implemented a background update system that automatically downloads and verifies new releases, notifying users when they are ready to install.

For mobile users, the latest version is now available on both Google Play and the App Store. Desktop users benefit from a new background update system that automatically retrieves and verifies new releases. A notification will appear once an update is ready to install, and the latest version can always be downloaded directly from the official website.
